Ø19 - All Hallows Eve
Halloween as a kid was always been one of my favorite holidays. We got to watch spooky movies, get dressed up, and explore our town during trick-or-treating. Eventually, I was old enough to just go with my friends alone and that’s when it really became something special. It was that small taste of freedom, excitement, anticipation, and exploration that as a kid you don’t get often.
This year we’re excited to go out as a family with some friends and I can’t wait to see what all of the kids dress up as. We’ve got a ninja turtle and a cheerleader from the Disney movie ZOMBIES and if we’re lucky the weather will hold out and we won’t be in snow suits.
D&D For Kids
I’m a huge fan of tabletop role-playing games. We’ve been playing in a group with other couples since the start of the pandemic virtually and have been having a great time. Now I want to introduce the game to our kids. However, Dungeons and Dragons is very complicated. So while searching for a way to introduce the game to our 4 and 6-year old I stumbled across this blog post that had a sheet and summarized some rule modifications. I really enjoyed the approach and it inspired me to work out a character sheet of my own and start to expand upon the rule modifications myself.
So I’ve launched the Diemoire, a place where I can post up some of these rule modifications and downloads for other parents who want to introduce D&D to their kids. You can grab the character sheet for free and I’ll be posting more updates as I continue to work through updates.
The kids loved making there characters and coloring in their sheets. Now to work on a kid friendly campaign for us to go on our first adventure together.
PARAN Updates
I’ve continued to work on PARAN as well, I’m really happy with how the styling is landing and some of the adjustments I’ve made to the lighting.
I am going to switch back to an art month and then a code and design month cadence going forward. I’ve been finding myself not finishing things, picking up new things, and just generally being scattered in my approach. I’m sensing a bit of unstableness in the effort. I’m Hoping this new focused approach will help get things in a better spot and I can get closer to release a new beta with just level 3 in it.
Inspo
Another round of inspiring things from the web.

Till next time, I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!
-Cheers
P.S.
We’ve been mostly watching scary movies and shows this month. The Cabinet of Curiosities has been a good but gruesome show so far.
I just started watching the peripheral, I really enjoyed the book and I’m enjoying the show as well.
